This month i’m sharing my diy recipe box. and even though it’s really simple, it’s so full of heart. my heart. i’ve had this sweet spot for cooking and recipes and homemaking since i was a little girl. it’s who i am. you see, this life is truly about the little things. like little boxes full of family history.. Step 1 - cut stock wood. take the stock lumber and re-saw to the specified 3/8 inches and 1/8 inches thickness for the wooden recipe box. sand each piece smooth with belt sander. rip (cut along the grain) lengths as shown in bill of materials listed above. step 2 - finish cuts for sides. The first step was to decide the design and size of the box, as i wanted it to be original using my own plan and be able to incorporate hundreds of recipes, and a matching pen made from the same bubinga wood. the inside of the box would need to fit tabbed recipe card dividers of 4″x6″, with an added 1/4″ height to accommodate the divider.
